Long Beach The Heart of Ida
Imagine being trapped in your own home, unable to visit family and friends, pick up groceries or a prescription, even walk to the corner mailbox. For many of Long Beach’s older adults, this dismal picture is an everyday reality.
This Mother’s Day, local non-profit The Heart of Ida will be delivering gift baskets, companionship, and joy to a percentage of Long Beach’s homebound senior citizens, many of whom are isolated and lonely – and they need your help!
Senior advocacy groups, service providers, and emergency responders are invited to join the new Community Fall Prevention Leadership Group and attend the Falls Summit 2014 at St. Mary Medical Center on Jan. 29 from 8 to 10 a.m.
Operation Holiday Hearts, a holiday giving program designed by local nonprofit (501c3) organization The Heart of Ida, will deliver personal hygiene kits to dependent senior citizens in Long Beach during the month of December.
September is Fall Prevention month and The Heart of Ida, a Long Beach based nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, takes fall prevention seriously. Through their Handy Hearts program, low income older adults are provided with free labor for minor home repairs involving safety and quality of life.
