Summer and Music (SAM) gets inside your head with their second concert of the 2014 series – Twisted at the Pike. Co-produced by the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA), the free, all-ages event will feature headlining performances by Fartbarf and De Lux as well as strolling magicians, fire dancers and a craft beer garden presented by Auld Dubliner on Friday, July 11 from 6 – 11p.m.
Downtown Long Beach’s homegrown concert series Summer and Music (SAM), co-produced by the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA), marks the start of its sixth year with the expansion of series-favorite Dancin’ in the Streets on Saturday, June 28, 7-11 p.m.
The Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) concludes its Taste of Downtown series on August 28 and 29 at the Pine Avenue Pier in the Waterfront neighborhood. As with the previous events, local restaurants will serve up sample sized portions of their signature dishes while reggae band Urban Dread performs live.

On July 9th at about 8:00 p.m., well over 100 individuals decided to participate in a “Bash Mob” in the Pike and City Place area of our downtown.
Long Beach Transit makes service adjustments April 18-21, 2013
Due to race course detours and a large influx of tourists and locals downtown for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, a few key service adjustments will be made by Long Beach Transit for April 18-21, 2013.
On Saturday May 11 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) will host the 5th Annual BikeFest at the official finish line of the Tour of Long Beach, a Miller Children’s Hospital fundraiser. This free family-friendly event will honor Long Beach’s rich bicycling history and the city’s famous vintage collecting culture with a vintage bike exhibit, bike + fashion show, bike contest and live swing bands.

For the first time ever, the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is opening up its track to the public on Thursday, April 18, from 2 to 4 pm. The community is invited to walk, bike, roller skate or even push a stroller along the course where the world’s best Indy Car drivers scream over 180 mph.
The Long Beach Derby Gals will debut its flagship roller derby teams – the Cyclone Racers and Breakwater Bombshells – at 7 pm on March 22, in front of an anticipated crowd of almost 2,000 people.
Appropriately-themed ‘Back From the Dead,’ the two teams will skate head-to-head, body-slam to body….well, you get the point, these gals like to hit.
Pat Merwin, lung cancer survivor and co-chair of the “Shine a Light on Lung Cancer” Vigil, places her glowstick in a giant ribbon formation in honor of friends and family members she has lost and those still fighting lung cancer.
The Pike at Rainbow Harbor and the Breast Center at the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Memorial have teamed up for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the month of October, valets at the Pike will be collecting donations to help expand breast cancer research and prevention programs at Long Beach Memorial.
