The public is invited to attend a Grand Opening Ceremony for the new Volleyball Court at Recreation Park on Saturday, June 4 at 1:30 pm. The court is located between Park Avenue and the Band Shell, north of 7th Street and south of Federation Drive.
This week, the St. Mary’s High School “Saints” from Calgary, Alberta, Canada are coming to Long Beach to face off with St. Anthony High School’s “Saints” in the tenth rendition of their rivalry, competing in football, volleyball, and soccer.
National Champions Chico Spikeball will host “The Long Beach Classic” on Saturday, August 16th which has teams traveling from as far as San Francisco to compete. The tournament, which will take place at the beach at the end of Cherry Avenue from 10 a.m.

In a first for the university, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) has been awarded a LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
It is the first-ever LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, designation given to a building at the university.
