Abandoning his sleigh for a trip to Parkers’ Lighthouse via a Spirit Cruises Yacht, Old St. Nicholas is due to arrive at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6th for an annual benefit that has become a favorite tradition at Parkers’ Lighthouse over the more than 20 years that the restaurant has been hosting Santa’s Breakfast.

Yesterday, The Brass Lamp signed a lease to occupy 4,000 sq. ft. of the Mark Schneider building on the Promenade. The Brass Lamp is a book bar and lounge; a fusion of a coffee shop, wine bar, and bookstore. It’s a place where customers can read a book, work on a laptop, or have nice conversations with a friend.

On Saturday, October 11 from 5-10 p.m. Downtown Long Beach will roll out the wine barrels, tap kegs of craft beer and fire up some delicious dishes for the 2nd Annual Promenade Beer and Wine Festival, presented by interTrend Communications.

Long Beach’s World-Famous Retro Row is giving one of its signature events a pet-friendly twist this month. On Saturday September 27, the street’s semi-annual Retro Ramble will become a “Sidewalk Sale with Wagging Tails,” welcoming animal friends of all kinds with special pet-themed vendors, services and events, including:

Christian Outreach in Action (COA) is pleased to announce the date of our 13th annual fundraiser. Please join us on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 6:00pm for “Waves of Change – 2014”. This year’s event will be held at the beautiful Long Beach Marriott and features a hosted wine and hors d’oeuvres reception, with a silent auction, followed by music, dinner and a live auction.

Long Beach Organic (LBO) will host its 4th Annual Garden Tour and Wine Tasting Fundraiser on June 1, 2014. Donors will board a chartered bus and visit four of LBO’s nine community gardens, with garden-fresh food, California wines and live music at each stop.

The Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) is continuing its 2014 Taste of Downtown series on June 4 & 5 from 6-10 p.m. on Pine Avenue between 1st and 3rd Streets. The event will feature sample sized portions of signature dishes from more than 25 Downtown restaurants, along with beer, wine and live music performed by Moonsville Collective.

Hotel Maya celebrates the return of “The Artists of Hotel Maya” art show during brunch on Sunday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The art show runs from 12-4 p.m. Live Latin American music will also be preformed on the Fuego patio throughout the day.

Fuego’s Latin America culinary tour continues to Nicaragua in November as Executive Chef Victor Juarez presents the next Latin Brunch Series on Sunday, November 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A special Nicaraguan musical performance by “FJ Reyes and Friends” will be featured during the culinary tour stop.
