The Long Beach Community Foundation (LBCF) has selected a new President and CEO to guide the organization into its next stage of development. Marcelle Epley, former Chief Administrative Officer and Senior Vice President of the Long Beach Transit, has enthusiastically accepted the position.
“I am eager to demonstrate my passion and enthusiasm for the Long Beach community in this new role,” Epley said. “The Long Beach Community Foundation has an impressive reputation for both its philanthropic work and notable partnerships. It’s an honor to take the helm of such a noteworthy organization.”
LBCF began looking for a new leader at the turn of the year when current President Jim Worsham announced his retirement. Worsham is the founding president of LBCF which was originally founded as the Greater Long Beach Community Foundation in 1996. During Worsham’s tenure, the Foundation has grown to manage more than $23 million in philanthropic assets. During 2013, LBCF facilitated more than $1.1 million in grants, primarily focused on improving the Long Beach community.
“The Long Beach Community Foundation is an integral part of the Long Beach nonprofit landscape. It was critical for us to find the perfect candidate to continue growing the Foundation and extending its reach in our community” said LBCF Board Chair Jane Netherton. “Marcelle Epley is exactly the individual who will take us there.”
Epley rose to the top of the candidate pool for her broad experience in both the small and large business sector, her community relationships, and her reputation for success in all her work. She resides in Long Beach with her husband and two sons and has both an undergraduate degree and Masters of Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach. Epley will start with LBCF on July 1, 2014. Worsham will continue on during the transition period under the title of Advisor to the President.
