LBTV Grabs 11 STAR Awards Nominations

The City of Long Beach’s cable channel, LBTV, was nominated for 11 government programming STAR awards by the States of California and Nevada National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (SCAN NATOA). Winners will be announced at the organization’s annual conference in Long Beach on June 2, 2011.
The STAR Awards were established in 1996 to recognize outstanding community television programming produced by local jurisdictions serving California and Nevada communities.
LBTV received award nominations for the following programs and their respective categories: The Long Beach Solar Grand Prix Festival (Community Event and Environmental categories); Long Beach Connect (News Series); “SportsBreak” (Sports Show); “Snapshot Long Beach” (Magazine), “Inside Long Beach” (Economic Development); GO Long Beach (Instructional); “Long Beach: The Source” (Video Text/Bulletin Board); “Poppin’ for Peace” and Earth Week in Action (Promotion); and the prestigious “Overall Excellence Award.”
