Learn more about Port grants at community meeting June 24

port-grantsSchools, daycare centers, convalescent homes, senior centers, medical facilities, shipping terminals and others are eligible for $15 million in Port of Long Beach grants to minimize the impact of Port operations on air quality and to reduce greenhouse gases.

The public can learn more about the grants and how the funds will be allocated in a series of informational sessions. The next is 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Hudson School, 2335 Webster Ave., in West Long Beach.

Another meeting is set for 7 p.m. June 24 at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Van Dyke Theater, 2801 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach. 

The program will fund projects that offset air quality impacts of port operations in the community, at schools and health-care centers. It will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions with projects mostly at the Port.
