Lebua Thai Massage and Spa — a New Long Beach Treat

Recently, my friend asked what I’d like for Christmas this year, and I (slightly jokingly) said, “One beautiful, undisturbed day to myself.”

In my opinion, that fantasy gift-day should always include a relaxing massage; yes? But… Oh lordy, how I’ve often checked into a massage “spa,” and been led down the hall to one of those many non-descript rooms. I’ve disrobed, and then climbed onto the massage table (Hey… Is this face-rest broken? How do I tighten this??) only to be met by a slightly-disgruntled (or rushed), and sometimes too-talkative masseuse.

Well, oh lordy indeed! Lebua Thai Massage and Spa to the rescue! Lebua is a brand-spankin’-new Thai Massage location in Long Beach, located at Studebaker/ Los Coyotes Diagonal in that little shopping area just before you see McBride High School (South of Carson Street). It’s owned by Long Beach resident and entrepreneur Kham Chang, who has some of the best authentic style, business, and design sense around, and some of the best masseuses, too.

He explained that in Thai, “bua” means “lotus” (Buddhist for life and free spirit). Lebua is warm, cozy and gorgeous. Every inch of the space has been carefully planned and put together: The aged, teak-wood Spirit House in the reception area, and the beautiful silk-cushioned, carved-wood chairs that were brought over from Thailand all say, “Welcome.” Each massage room has a hand painted mural of a peaceful scene, and the walls are warm and wooden. The room for couples massage is spacious and intimate.

Before you enter the massage area, be prepared to remove your shoes. Once in the massage area, be prepared for a quality massage. All masseuses are state certified, and some have received special training in Thailand. After your massage, a beautiful teacup with hot tea or a cup of infused water arrives to you while you relax.

In addition to the variety of massage options, Lebua offers other services (facials, scrubs, reflexology), as well as early-bird massage specials between 9 AM and 2 PM. I will definitely be returning to try out the rest of these offerings. For $40 per month, they also offer memberships with product discounts and unused massage rollovers, and I’m certainly considering that option, too; I mean, what better gift to give myself (or a friend) than one beautiful, undisturbed hour each month in a space that has been so caringly designed for our relaxation and spirit? Except for maybe a whole day each month… Hmmmm…

Lebua is located at 3962 N Studebaker Rd., #202 in Long Beach. Visit their website for more details and deals: http://www.lebuathaispa.com or call them today at (562) 420-2200.
