On Limelight, Long Beach’s best events are searchable by date, cost, category and keywords. Most events have photos, descriptions, Facebook integration, printable maps, driving directions and links.

“Great events are happening in Long Beach every day and Limelight can capture them all in one place,” said Ryan Smolar, Project Leader. “It’s free to use and it’s a great resource for the city.”

“We’ve brought thousands of new residents to Long Beach,” said Doma Properties principal Scott Hamilton, “and we’ve created Limelight to provide our residents and everyone else with unrivaled access to their community.”

“Visitors and new Long Beach residents really benefit from Limelight,” said Smolar.  “From one website, you can see a full range of events and discover new groups, neighborhoods and businesses.”

Limelight also helps fulfill a critical role for Long Beach: “despite being the 5th largest city in California, Long Beach is sidelined by major publications in LA and OC,” said Rachel Potucek, Project Leader.  “So we’re excited to add our efforts to the great work of other local information sources.”

The Doma Living Team hopes that Limelight will continue to be a useful resource for fun-seeking Long Beach locals and our neighbors, and further that Limelight will eventually become Long Beach’s one-stop event promotion resource.

“Anyone hosting an event can use Limelight for help writing press releases, booking advertisements and event listings in hundreds of Southern California publications,” said Potucek.  “Many events are hosted by business owners and community groups who aren’t professional event promoters, and we think we can help them cover the basics without reinventing the wheel.”

In the 2 years since Limelight originally launched, Limelight has listed over 15,000 events across over 1,000 venues. Said Smolar, “Limelight continues to work because we get a lot of help from strong partnerships, members and help from the community.”
