Local Adventure! More Summer Day Camps in Long Beach

In our week-long coverage of Long Beach Summer Camps, we talked about performing arts camps, sports camps, marine camps and YMCA camps. There are still a few day camps that we haven’t covered. This final list of day camps has some of the most unique offerings including a camp in the clouds or a week of hands-on history at the Rancho Los Alamitos.

LBCC Summer Fun Youth Recreation Program
Come join in the fun at the 40th Annual Long Beach City College Summer Fun Youth Recreation Program. The program runs from June 21 – July 29 and is set on the LBCC Liberal Campus. Summer camp activities include: Red Cross Swim Instruction, Water Polo, Tennis Instruction, Basic Golf Instruction, and Fitness/Weight Training. Sports Camps include: Baseball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Pee Wee Basketball, Girls Softball, Soccer, Pee Wee Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Pee Wee Volleyball, Cheer, Track/Cross Country, Flag Football and Great Games. Open swim and adult lap swimming are offered. Extended supervision is also available.

Summer Adventures at Rancho Los Alamitos
Learn about life on the Rancho through hands-on activities, including historic crafts, old-fashioned games, and special opportunities. This half-day program is especially designed for children ages 6-10 years old. Learn about life in old California through historic crafts, activities, games and stories. Camp adventures are planned for three weeks in July and August. Each week-long camp runs Monday – Friday, 10am – 2pm. Space is limited and advanced reservations are required. Call: (562) 570-1755.
Aviation Summer Camp by Unique Educational Exp Inc
The Airman Camp is for students 9-16. During the week, students will gain a deeper understanding of the field of aviation through a wide range of fun activities. Activities include working with designing paper and balso planes, flying simulators and various R/C planes. This camp will occur at Millikan High School with field trips planned to the Long Beach Airport and the Planes of Fame aviation museum. Full and half-day camps available in July and August. Summer Classes from Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine
There are more than 400 classes and day camps scheduled by LB Parks and Rec through August. Proving that you’re never too old for camp, these programs provide opportunities for exercise, social interaction, learning and relaxation for ages pre- school to adults 50+. Families can participate in art, music, nature, sports, fitness, and special interest classes. The summer class guide is available at www.lbparks.org, at park community centers and city libraries.
