Long Beach Area League of Women Voters Welcomes State Convention May 14-17

league-womens-voters-lbThe Long Beach Area League of Women Voters is hosting the League of Women Voters of California League May 14 through May 17 at the Long Beach Airport Marriott. League members from throughout the state will convene in Long Beach at the Airport Marriott Thursday May 14 for Smart Voter training and dinner with Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder Dean Logan as well as a MGIK, Membership Growth is Key workshop.

Friday, May 15, the Plenary Session opens at 10 a.m. followed by a luncheon presentation by State Appointment Secretary, John Cruz. Mr. Cruz will explain how best to apply for State boards and commissions.
Friday at 5:15 p.m. following the afternoon Plenary Session and workshops there will be an optional dinner and tour on the Queen Mary.

Saturday’s Plenary Session opens at 9 a.m. followed by a luncheon presentation by State Senator Jenny Oropeza., afternoon Plenary Session and workshops. A reception is scheduled at 6 followed by banquet at 7. Banquet speaker is Robert Hertzberg, Co-Chair, California Forward Leadership Council. Mr. Hertzberg previously served as Speaker of the California Assembly.

The public, non-League members, are invited to make a reservation for the luncheons and banquet by going onto the LWVC website. Payment can be made by credit card.
