On November 21st, 2015, the Long Beach Basket Brigade, a local non-profit organization in Long Beach, will host its Annual Thanksgiving Basket Build Event where it will assemble and deliver Thanksgiving baskets to hundreds of families in need throughout the Long Beach community.

Founded by a small group of individuals driven to make a difference in their local community in 2005, the Long Beach Basket Brigade started out with delivering 50 baskets. The baskets were assembled in the living room of local Long Beach residents. From humble beginnings, their efforts have grown from providing holiday baskets that first year to over 1000 baskets in 2014. Each year the Long Beach Basket Brigade partners with dozens of business, churches, schools, and community groups to truly unite the city of Long Beach in a spirit of service.

“Because our mission is to unite the local community and serve our local community, I think that there is no end to what we can do.”

-Kym Livesay, co-founder of the Long Beach Basket Brigade

Each basket assembled contains items that are donated by our local partners throughout the city. Our partners are made up of over 300 local residents and many businesses, church and community groups. Besides the items that are donated and purchased through donations, the Basket Brigade has partnered with local schools throughout Long Beach that will host food drives to gather canned food and other food items that will be used in the basket. Last year our school partners gathered and donated a total of 6,000 food items during the school drives to the Basket Build.

The Annual Thanksgiving Basket Build sponsored by the Long Beach Basket Brigade will be held at the El Dorado Park Community Center in Long Beach.
