How long have you been in business?:

We just celebrated our fourth birthday!

Describe the Long Beach Boot Camp:

Long Beach Boot Camp is a 6 week outdoor workout program offering fitness instruction, nutritional counseling and motivational training packed with fun and energizing activities designed to help you reach your fitness goals. Clients can expect to get their heart rates up through cardiovascular training, resistance training, and exercises designed to strengthen muscles.

Why did you start Fitness Through Motion, Inc?

During the course of my career I kept coming across people with pain, from minor aches and pains to more major issues such as herniated discs. I wanted to help these people achieve their fitness goals while achieving a pain free life. Yet in all of my schooling I’ve always been told to send people to the doctor or physical therapist for their pain. The only problem was the clients would typically end up moving less in daily life due to taking time off or becoming immobilized. So, I got tired of sending people away to live a life of little movement. I started to do some research and found Titus Motion Therapy. Frank Titus created this therapy over 13 years ago. His therapy consists of exercise in very specific, precise movement patterns to eliminate pain, not manage it!

I decided to create a program that combines the best in fitness training with therapeutic exercises designed to improve posture, fitness level and eliminate pain. In today’s society, the evolution of technology has fostered a sedentary lifestyle — computers, television and driving are a few of the reasons that human bodies are no longer as active as in the past. One result of this inactivity is poor posture–a culprit of many chronic ailments. Long Beach Boot Camp utilizes the Titus Motion Therapy model to challenge people to turn away from the sedentary societal norms, and begin living a healthy, balanced and active lifestyle. At Long Beach Boot Camp we use specific exercises to align the body’s posture and remind it of its innate blueprint for health and fitness through motion. These exercises emphasize balance and flexibility and generate strength, weight loss, alignment, and much more… We train your muscles properly to realign your posture so that your work, play and relaxation can be as enjoyable as they can be without resulting in injury.

What makes Fitness Through Motion, Inc stand out?

Women and men of all ages, shapes, experience and fitness levels will achieve great results. Instructors keep workouts challenging and fun, while everybody goes at their own pace. No matter what your current fitness level there’s always plenty of motivational support and encouragement from other Boot Campers. You choose your activity level and push yourself to YOUR limits! After the 6 weeks are over you WILL definitely see an overall improvement. Come outdoors with us and enjoy the fresh air and fun environment!

What is the biggest success Fitness Through Motion, Inc has had?

The biggest success is that most of our campers have come from referrals. This means that our program has impacted their lives enough that they have shared it with others.

What is your favorite part of running your business?

My favorite part is teaching classes! I love hearing and seeing each person’s personal success and change. I love varying each workout so that the campers never get bored!

What are the biggest challenges you face?

I enjoy interacting with my campers so being in an office doing paperwork is my least favorite part. Since I don’t enjoy doing it this becomes my biggest challenge.

What unique talents do you bring to the Long Beach Boot Camp?

I am an avid fitness enthusiast. I have a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (the study of human movement). I studied Exercise Science so I could fully understand how the body can benefit from exercise. I am also an N.A.S.M. certified Personal Trainer, an Apex Certified Nutrition Specialist, N.E.S.T.A. certified Adventure Fitness Trainer, and an EZ8 Running Coach.

My passion for learning more about fitness led me to study abroad in Scotland and Australia where I became Certified as an Outdoor leader. I am certified as a Therapeutic Exercise Specialist, specializing in Titus Motion Therapy. I have worked in rehabilitation clinics, taught various exercise classes, organized fitness expeditions and has been the Fitness Director of a prestigious gym on the west coast.

How is Fitness Through Motion, Inc involved with the community?

We participate in local events within the community such as 5k’s and 10k’s. We donate to Long Beach based organizations. We try to promote health and fitness within the community one Boot Camper at a time.

Do you have any future plans for the Long Beach Boot Camps?

We are planning on expanding within Long Beach such as Bixby Knolls, Belmont Heights, etc.

What is the best advice that you received and who did it come from?

A friend once told me, “Give yourself permission to not have it all figured out right now and trust the process.”
