Group best1[1] Emergency Healthcare Services Grants $50,000 in Funding from Bank of America Charitable Foundation to Help Meet Key Needs in Long Beach

Long Beach Community Foundation (LBCF) was pleased to announce the second group of recipients of Emergency Healthcare Services Grants at a presentation ceremony on October 27 at 4:00 pm in the beautiful lobby of the Assistance League Long Beach (6220 E. Spring Street). Five nonprofit healthcare providers/trainers were named as recipients of these general operating support grants, made possible by financial support from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. The Bank granted $50,000 to LBCF to provide immediate capital to help local healthcare providers manage and meet the needs of rising patient caseloads, along with supporting the training of future healthcare workers. LBCF was designated as the Bank’s local granting agent for healthcare-related funds in Long Beach because of LBCF’s familiarity with the community.

“Bank of America is proud to partner with LBCF to bring these valuable philanthropic resources to Long Beach,” said Garrett Gin, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Social Responsibility for Bank of America. “The relationships LBCF has with the key organizations in Long Beach, coupled with Bank of America’s commitment to create opportunities in neighborhoods throughout Southern California, make a powerful combination.”

Jim Worsham, LBCF’s President & CEO, adds, “During economically challenging times, we commend Bank of America for its commitment to communities. We’re honored to be partners for the benefit of Long Beach.”

The grant award recipients are Westside Neighborhood Clinic, Wells House Hospice Foundation, Goodwill Southern LA County healthcare training program, Constellation Community Middle School counseling program, and Assistance League orthodontic care program. Giving attention to holistic health needs, these five providers collectively address general health, orthodontics, mental health needs of adults and children, along with critical training for future healthcare workers. Grant awards vary in amount up to $10,000 and are designated for general support.
