The Associated Radio Amateurs of Long Beach invite the public to Field Day at Recreation Park. On June 27 and 28, the Long Beach “hams” will join more than 35,000 amateur radio operators across the country in a national radio contest to demonstrate emergency communications capabilities.
During emergencies and disasters, amateur radio operators often provide critical information and communications. The public will have the opportunity to meet with ham radio operators and to learn more about how to become a licensed radio operator. Come see ham radio in action.
“When All Else Fails” is more than just a slogan to hams. They train to communicate by voice, email, and even amateur television without using phones, the internet, or any other outside support. Ham radio communications has saved lives. Stop by and learn more.
at 4900 E. 7th Street in Long Beach. The event runs for 24 hours beginning at 11 AM Saturday to 11 AM Sunday.
