Explore The International Tower At Long Beach Heritage’s Annual Loft Walk
2011-03-04 · By Editor
Long Beach Heritage’s annual Loft Walk will feature the International Tower, the round soda pop building across from the Villa Riviera on Ocean Boulevard. The evening starts at 5 pm and includes viewings of a half dozen homes, appetizers and drinks. In addition, there will be talks on the history of Long Beach during the 1960s, mid-century modern architecture, and the revolutionary structural engineering of the International Tower.
Built in the mid 1960s, the International Tower is one of the most significant buildings in Long Beach for its architectural design and innovative technology. With sweeping views of the city, the building is also associated with the Grand Prix and elaborate celebrity parties. A number of movies and TV shows have filmed there as well, including Lethal Weapon and CSI Miami.
The Long Beach Heritage Loft Walk 2011 is Saturday, March 12 from 5-8 pm beginning at the International Tower, 700 East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, 90802. History talks begin at 5:30 pm.
