Long Beach Job Corps Ranked 10th in Nation

Long Beach Job Corps students and staff are extra proud. The center ranked #10 of 125 Job Corps Centers in the nation in October, due to their hard work and success.
Every month the center is ranked on achievement of a student’s initial job placement, attainment of high school diplomas and GED’s, achieving higher numeracy and literacy levels,
Mitra Vazeen, Center Director has led the Long Beach Job Corps team since February 2012. According to Vazeen, “This is ranking demonstrates that the students are successful as a result of their hard work and our staff is top notch. The students are earning high school diplomas and GED’s, receiving training and industry recognized certifications, getting their driver’s licenses, raising their numeracy and literacy levels, and getting jobs, enrolling in the military or starting college.”
Matthew W. Davis, Career Transition Services Director and his Career Transition Services team have much to be proud of. The Long Beach Job Corps Career Transition Service team is ranked #1 in the Nation. This is due to their comprehensive work finding employment for students and continually mentoring the students toward success. Davis stated, “It’s rewarding to see our hard work result in promising careers for these young adults.”
Long Beach Job Corps Center has 250 students and offers career technical training to become an automotive technician, cement mason, certified nurse assistant/home health aide, clinical medical assistant, facilities maintenance worker, glazier, medical office support specialist, painter, and pharmacy technician.
Administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, Job Corps is the nation’s largest career technical training and education program for income-eligible students ages 16 through 24. Job Corps is a U.S. Department of Labor Equal Opportunity Employer Program.
