In light of current national events that have impacted the nation, families and communities, the Long Beach Ministers Alliance [L.B.M.A.] recognizes the urgency to develop family outlets designed to assist in the healing and reconciling of communities.
On Thursday night, August 25, 2016, the Long Beach Ministers Alliance will host, “Laughing Lives Matters” – Healing Our Communities Through Laughter.
According to Alliance President, Gregory Sanders “we do not have all of the answers, but here’s what we do know! Laughter is one of the most powerful emotions for curing individuals and families.”
“Historically, comedic practitioners as far back as Eddie “Rochester” Anderson, Butterfly McQueen, Moms Mabley, Flip Wilson, Comic Relief’s Robin Williams, Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg as well as Redd Foxx, Sinbad and Richard Pryor have all written prescriptions of hope through humor that have nursed us back from the toxic symptoms of draught, famine, Police brutality, economic disparity, social injustices, urban unrest and other environmental and societal traumas.”
According to Dr. Frank Lipman [founder of Eleven Eleven Wellness Centers], “…in my 20 years of medical experience, I’ve found that patients who have a sense of humor and laugh a lot tend to heal better and faster than those who don’t. Therefore, I say if health and wellness are your goals, skip irony, bypass sarcasm and make the conscious choice to add more joyous laughter into to your day.”
The Long Beach Ministers Alliance recognizes the challenges of community violence; human trafficking; homeless veterans, and the need for more job development in our communities.
The Alliance believes that a night of laughter and fun will “build, equip and connect” our community in practical ways for positive outcomes and clear pathways to opportunities.
“The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.” ― Mark Twain
The Long Beach Ministers Alliance is excited to partner with Molina Health Care and The Long Beach Convention & Visitors Center in bringing a evening of unforgettable laughter, fun and healing to our families and communities.
“Laughing Lives Matter will not only be entertaining, but proceeds will benefit strategic, life-changing organizations and acknowledge individuals who have been instrumental in creating and sustaining a healthy Long Beach” Sanders stated.
Inspirational comedian and former host of “Comic View”, Lester Barrie will Emcee this exciting event. Joining Lester is a hilarious line-up which includes, “Star Search Winner”, Michael Colyar. The night also features comedians Ron Pearson from “The George Lopez Show”, Doug Williams; creator and host of “Martin Lawrence First Amendment Stand Up Show”, Gilbert Esquivel; winner of the “Latino Comedy” Show @ The Ice House, Long Beach local Comedian Ricky Harris from the movies “This Christmas, “HEAT” and “Hard Rain”, Lamont Bonman from “Legends of Motown” and Angel Gainse the “Essence Magazine Clean Comedy Winner.” Also joining us is V.I.P.
