Long Beach Organic Hosts 4th Annual Garden Tour and Wine Tasting

Long Beach Organic (LBO) will host its 4th Annual Garden Tour and Wine Tasting Fundraiser on June 1, 2014. Donors will board a chartered bus and visit four of LBO’s nine community gardens, with garden-fresh food, California wines and live music at each stop. There are still a few seats left on the bus!

This signature event in the gardens gives LBO’s supporters a chance to see first hand the projects they are supporting. Gardeners are sprucing up their plots in anticipation. Volunteers are busy planning delectable finger foods with produce from the garden as well as donated farmers market ingredients.

The event will also feature:

  • Wines by Halter Ranch, Tablas Creek and others
  • Olive oils from Joelle Farms
  • Coffee from Rose Park Roasters
  • Music by Robi Duganne, Long Beach Community Band and La Familia Rodriquez

The 4th Annual Garden Tour and Wine Tasting Fundraiser is June 1, 2014 from 1:00 to 6:00pm. pickup and drop off at Alamitos Bay. Donation (tax deductible) is $75  per person, which includes annual membership in LBO; $65 per peseon for current LBO members. RSVP required. info@ longbeachorganic.org , or call 562 438-9000.

Proceeds will benefit Long Beach Organic, a is a 501(c)(3)non-profit corporation founded in 1994. LBO now operates nine organic community gardens in the city limits of Long Beach, CA. Long Beach Organic locates urban vacant lots from public and private owners and turns them into beautiful community gardens for local and sustainable food production.

Each one of the nine gardens is unique and the result of diverse and passionate gardeners. The benefits of urban community gardens are countless both in the community and on an individual level. They are made possible by generous donations, volunteer hours, and sweat equity, all of which are essential for successful community development.
