Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Announces New Youth Classes in Music and Dance For March

Great Fall Classes Available for Everyone From Parks, Recreation and MarineDoes your child want to get more involved in the arts this spring? Join Parks, Recreation and Marine for three brand new youth courses in dance and music!

Ukulele Kids: March 6
Ukulele is not only a fun instrument to play; it’s also a terrific way to prepare little hands for guitar later on. Students will learn basic chords, melodies, rhythm, and note reading in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Bring your own ukulele or rent one from us. This course is for children ages 5 to 7 years old, with a cost of $105 per student. Class takes place Tuesdays from 4 to 4:50pm, March 6 to April 24, at Jammin’ Music (4228 Atlantic Ave).

Youth Piano: March 7
Piano is an essential part of musical learning for any child. This beginning- level class is for children with little to no previous instruction. Students will be taught note reading, hand positions, proper finger technique, and simple melodies in a fun and supportive environment. Each child will learn on an individual electric keyboard. This course is for children ages 7 to 12 years old, with a cost of $105 per student with a $5 material fee. Class takes place Wednesdays from 4 to 5pm, March 7 to April 25, at Jammin’ Music (4228 Atlantic Ave).

Youth Break Dancing:
March 10 Break dancing is one of the most dynamic and entertaining forms of dance out there. This class is for kids with little to no dance experience. Students will learn moves, techniques, and the history of break dancing. This course is for children ages 8 to 12 years old, with a cost of $40 per student. Class takes place Saturdays from 9 to 10am, March 10 to 31, at the North Long Beach Community Center.
