Long Beach to Recycle E-Waste and Used Tires on May 7, 2011

recycle-tires-long-beachGet rid of electronic waste and used tires in an environmentally safe manner during the free E-Waste Collection and Tire Amnesty Day on Saturday, May 7, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Environmental Services Bureau, 2929 E. Willow St. (just east of Temple Ave.)

Acceptable e-waste items include old televisions, computers, monitors, printers, VCRs, cell phones, DVD players, and microwave ovens. There is a limit of five tires per vehicle, and no rims will be accepted. Please no hazardous waste. 

E-waste and used tires pose a threat to public health and the environment, and they cannot be disposed of in landfills.

Two additional City e-waste drives are scheduled in May:

  • May 7, Free E-Waste and paper-shredding event, 5907 Syracuse Walk, 9 am to noon. www.longbeach.gov/district3 or 562.570.6300.
  • May 21, E-Waste Drive and Shred Fest, Scherer Park, corner of Atlantic and Del Amo, 9 am to noon. www.longbeach.gov/district8 or 562.570.6685.
