The Long Beach Zen Meditation Group is organizing a double event to celebrate its second anniversary. Both events will take place on Saturday, March 31 at the Zen group’s regular meeting place at the Neighborhood United Methodist Church, 507 Pacific Avenue, Long Beach, Ca 90802.
A Public Talk by Zen Master Charles Tenshin, Roshi.
Entitled: Negotiating The Way
Saturday, March 31, 11:00 AM
Zen master Charles Tenshin Fletcher, Roshi is abbot of the Yokoji Zen Mountain Center and the inspiration for the Long Beach Zen Meditation Group. This is a unique occasion to listen and interact with an established and respected Zen master. Tenshin, Roshi does prefer Q&A sessions over lectures. He will be happy to answer all your questions related to Zen, meditation, enlightenment, Buddhism and their significance in our modern society.
Refreshments will be offered prior to the talk. The talk will be incorporated in a whole day of meditation (see below). Please join us before and/or after the talk and experience the practice of Zazen (sitting Zen). The morning Zazen starts at 9:00 AM.
Instruction will be provided for those who meditate for the first time. This event is free, donations are highly appreciated
A Full Day of Zen Meditation

The same day of the public talk by Tenshin, Roshi, we organize our anniversary ZAZENKAI, which is a full day of Zen meditation. During a Zazenkai, we remain silent and we meditate for several half hour periods. We invite everybody interested in meditation and/or Zen practice to join us for the whole or part of the program or for only one half hour sitting period. Newcomers will be given instruction.
For those staying for a healthy wholesome vegetarian lunch around noon, we request registration with a refundable deposit of $50.
This event is free, donations are highly appreciated.
