2011-10-05 · By Editor
Lots of new updates to report for the upcoming Long Beach Zombie Walk Street and Music Fest slated for Saturday, October 29th and presented by the Long Beach Cinematheque (lbcinema.org) and its midnight cinema program counterpart, Mondo Celluloid! First and foremost, the Street Fest & Zombie Walk is now FREE. Zombie Central—on the Promenade, between 3rd Street and Ocean Blvd—is where all the festivities will be happening, including makeup artists, food, beer garden, art, vendors, and live music and muralists at the Tinderbox! Stage. Rock out to a live set by Buskerfest-winners WILD PACK OF CANARIES at 9pm (more bands to be announced; stay tuned to http://zombiewalklb.com and Facebook for details).
Also NEW is the separate-admission, all-ages concert event, “Dead Man’s After-Party”, featuring a live performance by the ultimate Halloween band, Johnny Vatos’ Tribute to Halloween (with members of Oingo Boingo), at the Historic Press Telegram building, between 6th and 7th on Pine Ave. Gates open at 8pm, where you can enjoy food trucks & beer gardens, followed by the WORLD’S SEXIEST ZOMBIE contest (with celebrity guest judge, RENA RIFFEL from “Showgirls” and “Mulholland Drive”)! Tickets available now at $15; special “Long Beach Comic-Con/Dead Man’s After-Party” packages also available – save $5! Tickets are limited so buy them early!
Long Beach Zombie Walk T-shirts are also now available! Long Beach artist and Phone Booth Gallery owner, Garry Booth, crafted this year’s design. Inspired by zombie cinema, the design is composed of clippings, posters, and scenes from some of our favorite flicks, including “White Zombie”, “Cemetery Man”, “I Walked with a Zombie”, “Creepshow”, “Dead Alive”, “Night of the Living Dead”, and many more! The iconic skull shirt is perfect for any zombie enthusiast, alive or reanimated! Booth also designed the Long Beach Zombie Walk logo, which this year appears as a tag on the back of each shirt. Commemorate the largest Zombie Walk in history with your own 2011 tee-shirt! Available here: http://zombiewalklb.com/gear/.
