Main Library Exhibits City Signs and Mindscapes

The Main Library will exhibit the paintings of two artists throughout January and February, 2011.
Tom Oliver and his selection of paintings titled “City Signs. Mr. Oliver is “drawn to architectural landscapes that represent fine examples of their eras.”Hisoptimistic style depicts “memories of electric skies and undulating perspective, in spite of the pessimistic world where they exist.” Mr. Oliver’s works will be displayed in the Miller Special Collections Room. Mindscape, the paintings of Hung Viet Nguyen will be displayed on the upper and lower exhibit galleries January through February, 2011. Mr. Nguyen was born in Vietnam and came to the United States in 1982. His paintings depict a creative process that “struggle[s] with conflicting emotions, with falsity and truth, hope and despair, joy and sadness, comfort and pain, loss and revelation.
