Learn to Make Your Own Homemade Soups, Salads and Sodas
2011-01-24 · By Editor
Starting Thursday, February 10, Chef Aliye Aydin of beachgreens offers a creative way to beat the winter blues with her latest class “Homemade Soups, Salads and Sodas.” In the first class students will learn how to make three deliciously healthy items: Yayla Corbasi (Turkish Barley Soup), Bulgar Chickpea Salad with Parsley and Mint and Pomegranate Soda.
For beachgreens founder Aliye Aydin, her Turkish heritage and love of travel have deeply influenced her passion for food, as did the frightening diagnosis of chronic kidney disease at age fifteen. From that time forward she has dedicated her life to the deep understanding of the growing, cultivating, distributing and preparing of the best and healthiest of what nature has to offer.
Aliye has also worked on organic farms around the country, in restaurants, as a personal chef and caterer, and as a cooking instructor. Prior to starting beachgreens, the farm-to-door produce delivery service in Long Beach, Aliye worked with Long Beach Organic to develop a network of community and school gardens.
In 2011, beachgreens re-launched their website at www.beachgreens.com—completely revamped to share Aliye’s blog with tips and treasures of seasonal eating, a recipe section, upcoming events and classes, the beachgreens school fundraiser program and even the new “I love veggies” t-shirts.
“Homemade Soups, Salads and Sodas” take place Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Classes begin February 10 and continue weekly through March 10. The price per class is $35 or attend the entire series for $175.
The cooking classes will be held at Culinary Enterprises at 937 E. 27th Street in Signal Hill. To sign up, call (562) 243-3099, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
