Man Fatally Shot During Commission of Residential Burglary

On Sunday, August 10, 2014, at approximately 3:07 A.M., officers from the Long Beach Police Department were dispatched to the 2800 block of East 3rd Street regarding an in progress burglary to a residence with an intruder inside. Prior to the officers arrival the calling party indicated the suspect had been shot inside the home.
Officers arrived within two minutes and twenty seconds of the initial call to 911, and located a male adult inside the home with gunshot wounds. Long Beach Fire Department Paramedics responded to render aid to the suspect. Paramedics pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene.
Homicide Detectives responded and interviewed the residents, witnesses and neighbors. Evidence collected at the scene indicates the suspect scaled a wall to gain access to the backyard then broke a window to enter the home. The suspect was found to have personal property belonging to the resident on his person.
The suspect has been identified as Ryan Anderson, a 29-year-old resident of Long Beach. There is no indication at this time there is any connection between the suspect and the residents of the home.
Once the investigation in complete, the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for review.
