The producers of “The Cell Block Seven” stage play are proud to announce their premiere West Coast performances, which will take place on December 6th and 7th at the Manazar Gamboa Theater. This play is one of the featured productions of the Dark Blue Mondaze Showcase Theatre Series. “The Cell Block Seven” debuted to much acclaim last year at the D.C. Theatre Festival in the nation’s capital.
Ripped straight out of the headlines from today’s news, “The Cell Block Seven” takes you on an arresting journey through the lives of some of America’s most dangerous female prisoners. Starring a cast of Los Angeles’ hottest working actresses, these stories of scandal are inspired by true-to-life events.
This play is raw, emotional and most of all…REAL. Featuring an All-Star Cast: Gabrielle Dennis (Janay on BET’s “The Game”), Shelli Boone (“Grey’s Anatomy”, “Private Practice” and Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne”), Erika Ringor (“Hawthorne” and “Law and Order”), Nefetari Spencer (“Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23”, founder of Elite Delta Force 3 comedy troupe featured in Essence Magazine), LeShay Tomlinson-Boyce (R. Kelly’s “Trapped in the Closet” and Elite Delta Force 3), Crystal Lee Brown (“A Quiet Fire” and “Eve”) and Sharon Battle (“NoHo PA” and “Scandal”). The play is directed by Dorian Missick of “Southland”, “Haven”, “The Bounty Hunter” and “Mooz-lum”.
“The Cell Block Seven” producer and cast mate, Shelli Boone says “I am just so happy that Gary DeWitt Marshall has created a platform for artists to really show their stuff by starting the Dark Blue Mondaze Series. Theatre is a medium that allows us to be fully creative and to express ourselves without restriction. We can do what WE want to do! That’s not always possible in film and television. This series is opening up a whole new world to Southern California theatre goers, and attracting audiences that otherwise might have never seen a play.”
“The Cell Block Seven” West Coast Premiere is December 6th and 7th at 8pm, and December 8th and 9th at 2pm and 6pm at the Manazar Gamboa Theater located at 1323 Gundry Ave, Long Beach, 90813.
