Mark Bixby

The DLBA invites residents to the Belmont Pool Plaza today, Friday, August 10, 2012 at 4pm for the Mark Bixby Memorial Dedication.

Local metal artist Patrick Vogel created a stainless steel statue shaped in the form of a wave to represent Mark’s love for the ocean and depict his life, as a wave at its crest – powerful and ready to break. The Bixby Family and Bikeable Communities is hosting this dedication, which is open to the public.

Mark was an active Long Beach community member and leader. He was a valuable DLBA Board member, esteemed colleague and close friend. As a passionate and dedicated community member, Mark’s contagious energy and vigor for life was part of the charm so many enjoyed.

It was an honor to work with Mark on many projects including the Annual BikeFest Tour of Long Beach and see his vision come to fruition. His leadership and can-do attitude helped create an event that has already raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the patients of Miller Children’s Hospital of Long Beach.

The Mark Bixby Memorial Dedication will take place today, August 10, 2012, at 4 p.m. at the Belmont Pool Plaza (4000 East Olympic Plaza)
