MemorialCare opens breastfeeding store Essentials

Today, August 4 MemorialCare Center for Woman at Miller Children’s Hospital (MCH) and Long Beach Memorial (LBM) celebrated World Breastfeeding Week with a ribbon cutting for the newly remodeled breastfeeding store, Essentials.
LBM and MCH was presented with an award from the Breastfeeding Taskforce of Greater Los Angeles recognizing the hospitals commitment as a Breastfeeding Friendly workplace.
Celebrated in more than 120 countries, World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is the greatest outreach vehicle for the breastfeeding movement. The objectives of WBW are:
- To draw attention to the vital role that breastfeeding plays in emergencies world wide
- To stress the need for active protection and support of breastfeeding before and during emergencies
- To inform mothers, breastfeeding advocates, communities, health professionals, governments, aid agencies, donors, and the media on how they can actively support breastfeeding before and during an emergency
- To mobilize action and nurture networking and collaboration between those with breastfeeding skills and those involved in emergency response
Hospital executives will be present to cut the ribbon at the Essentials grand opening and dozens of employees will be on hand to check out the new store.
The MemorialCare Center for Women at Miller Children’s and Long Beach Memorial supports WBW and is dedicated to breastfeeding and understands the importance of it for both maternal and child health.
