michelle-mangioneSinger, songwriter, acclaimed drummer and recording artist Michelle Mangione will be the scheduled guest on Swoop’s World Radio Wednesday night, December 16 at 9 p.m.

“Speaking with Michelle about music always leads somewhere interesting,” said talk show host Swoop. “I’ve had the opportunity to interview her on several occasions and look forward to discussing her newest album.”

Mangione’s debut album, Life Beneath The Sun, received much critical acclaim. This year, the Long Beach-based musician released her second album, What is a Saint, along with her first music video.

Rock icon Grace Slick (formerly of Jefferson Airplane), who describes Mangione as “…a gifted artist and poetic songwriter,” co-wrote the lyrics to the title track.

The What is a Saint video, which was predominantly filmed in Long Beach and uses local residents as “extras,” is a soulful portrayal of Mangione and Slick’s lyrics that compels listeners to experience the music on a deeper level.

Most recently, Mangione was invited to perform as the opening act for Shawn Colvin’s Southern California appearance in February 2010.

Mangione joins Swoop’s World Radio Wednesday night to discuss her creative process, the stories behind her music, and life in Long Beach. Listeners will have the opportunity to call in or join via the live Internet chat.
