hotel-maya-fuego mojitos & muttsGreat news dog lovers! Hotel Maya’sMojitos & MuttsHappy Hour welcomes four-legged, tail-waggin’ friends and the owners who love them to mix and mingle on the waterfront property.

Sip on cool, refreshing 10 Cane rum mojitos, meet fellow dog enthusiasts, enjoy the delicious bites from Fuego and watch the sun set with your best friend. And pamper your pup with complimentary goodie bags featuring Pup-Peroni dog snacks!

Our second Mojitos & Mutts is a benefit to help our friends on the Gulf Coast. After learning how beloved pets were ending up in shelters because their parents were losing their jobs and couldn’t afford to keep them, we decided to take action!

If possible, attendees are asked to bring a toy for the dogs waiting for their new forever homes. Also, we’ll hold raffles and take donations—100 percent of the proceeds will go directly the Gulf Coast Companion Animal Relief Program! Many Gulf-area pet parents (generally in the fishing industry) are having to give up their pets or are in danger of surrendering them because of financial losses.

In an effort to keep families together, the LA/SPCA has started the Gulf Coast Companion Animal Relief Program, which aims to provide short-term pet care relief. Services such as relieving the costs of spay/neuter surgeries, pet food, heartworm treatment, microchipping and basic exams will be covered under the program. In addition to saving pets, this also “saves” people, so to speak. Having to give up a pet can be heartbreaking in and of itself, but it’s also been proved that animals have a positive impact on the physical and mental health of humans—so important during a time of crisis!

The Mojitos & Mutts  Happy Hour is today Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hotel Maya: 700 Queensway Drive, Long Beach, CA, Ph: 562-481-3910.
