Most Affordable Airport in United StatesLong Beach Airport (LGB) has been named the most affordable airport in the United States, according to www.Cheapflights.com.

“Long Beach is a great way to experience all of what Southern California has to offer,” said Mayor Bob Foster. “Long Beach Airport is dedicated to providing travelers with a quick and convenient flight experience that exceeds expectations – without breaking the bank.”

With an average fare of just $223, Long Beach Airport beat out 100 other airports across the country to top the list of most affordable airport, based on the average airfare that the travel website users found during June 2011.

With passengers always a priority, the Long Beach Airport maintains low fares in the current economic climate. From LGB’s gates,17 destinations along the West coast and across the country can be reached non-stop. In addition to offering affordable flights, LGB is in the midst of upgrading the main terminal and recently opened a 2,000-space parking garage, four months ahead of schedule and $2 million under budget.

“We’re proud to be recognized as the most affordable airport in the country,” said Long Beach Airport Director Mario Rodriguez. “Our careful attention to low cost allows passengers to travel more easily reach their destinations.”
