Musical Theatre West joins two of their favorite performers in an evening of love and music in A Fine Romance…in Song and Dance starring David Engel and Tami Tappan Damiano.  This special event will take place Sunday, March 14, at the spectacular Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach.

A Fine Romance is about a couple meeting, falling in love, getting married and then living and loving through a myriad of issues, told completely through song.  Individually, David Engel and Tami Tappan Damiano each have brought their incomparable talents to the MTW stage numerous times.

Together, they have an onstage chemistry that is unmatched in Southern California Theater. This duo sings and dances like no one else can in this cabaret that features the classic love songs, “Blues in the Night”, “But The World Goes Round”, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”, “All Of Me”, “I Won’t Dance”, and the title tune “A Fine Romance, “and many more.

David Engel is a favorite to MTW audiences.  He is now a six-time recipient of the L.A. Stage Alliance Ovation Award and audiences will remember Engel starring on the Musical Theatre West stage in such shows as Forbidden Broadway, The Producers, The Andrews Brothers, Crazy for You, La Cage aux Folles, Singin’ in the Rain, Kiss Me, Kate, Never Gonna Dance and The Full Monty. David appeared on Broadway in Putting It Together, Seussical: The Musical, and the original production of La Cage aux Folles as well as the National Tour of White Christmas. David was one of the original cast members of the megahit Forever Plaid and appeared in Forever Plaid: The Movie.

Tami Tappan Damiano has a long history with Musical Theatre West — and with her pal/leading man, David Engel who has starred in many of the same shows. Tami has appeared in MTW productions, including The Full Monty, Never Gonna Dance, Guys and Dolls, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and in Singin’ in the Rain.  Tami can be heard as the singing voice of Cinderella in the Disney DVD, “Cinderella III.”  She also has a CD, “Hot Notes.” Tami’s TV appearances include “Numb3rs,” “The Drew Carey Show,” and “Third Rock from the Sun.”

A Fine Romance…in Song and Dance will be at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach on Sunday, March 14, 2010.  Dinner at 5:00PM, with the show at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $85 (dinner and show) and $40 (performance only) and can be purchased on-line at or through the MTW box office 562-856-1999 x4.

Proceeds from A Fine Romance will go towards Musical Theatre West’s education and outreach programs, which introduce thousands of children each year to the joy and magic of theater, as well as other important programs.

Now in its 57th season, Musical Theatre West has garnered numerous awards and accolades for its musical comedies.  Following A Fine Romance…in Song and Dance in the 2009-2010 Season will be The Marvelous Wonderettes and 1776.
