Long Beach Branch NAACP to Host 34th Founders Celebration Dinner and Awards

The 2013 Long Beach Branch NAACP 34th Founders Celebration Dinner & Awards Presentation to be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at The Hilton Long Beach.

The 2013 Honorees are: Dr. Clifford Hancock, M.D., Specialties: Obstetrics and Gynecology the Ernest McBride, Sr. Award; Marie Treadwell, former Proctor & Gamble Employee the Lillie V. Grigsby Award; Kimberly Benoit, Partner & V.P. of Rainbow Promotions the Zelma A. Lipscomb Award; Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell to receive the Community Outreach and Safety Award; Pastor Welton Pleasant, Christ Second Baptist the Religious Affairs Award; Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners the Community Service Award; Michael Solt, Dean School of Business California State University Long Beach the Higher Education Award; Alvin Hayes, Educator and Musician Public Education Award; Carl Balton, President and CEO of the Union Bank Foundation, Corporate Community Outreach Award; Terri Alvarez & Forest Lawn the President’s Award; and Dr. Jerry Schubel, President & CEO Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific will be recognized for Lifetime Achievement.

This signature event generates funds for Long Beach Branch NAACP Branch operations and programs such as: the Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO Program), Stay-in-School, Leadership Academy and Development Program, Scholar Dollars Program, Youth Wealth Empowerment Program, Non-Violent Conflict Resolution, Fit and Focus Camps, Discovery of the Arts, Talent Search and Development Program, Careers and Mentorship Program, Math and Science Collaboration (MESA) with CSULB, Law Day Program in conjunction with Keesal, Young, & Logan, Youth Entrepreneurs Program, College Internships, Get Aboard the Technology Highway, Civil Rights Violations Investigations, and Senior Services. The local NAACP speaks out on issues and focuses on programs within the six-point National plan.
