The Long Beach Branch NAACP has announced their 2012 33rd Founders Celebration Dinner & Awards Presentation to be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Long Beach Westin, 333 E. Ocean Blvd, Long Beach California. The 2012 Honorees are:

R. Todd Hicks, Los Angeles County Head Deputy District Attorney, Assigned to Compton Juvenile Court, Ernest McBride Sr. Award; Millie Whisenton, Entrepreneur and Humanitarian, Lillie V. Grigsby Award; Charlotte Berry, Business and Volunteerism, Zelma A. Lipscomb Award; Doug Haubert, Long Beach City Prosecutor, Public Service Award; David Zaid, Principal, Stevenson Elementary School, Education Award; Southwest Airlines & Jackie Thompson, Director of Community Affairs and Grassroots, Corporate Community Service Award; William Ward, Veterans Affairs Branch Service Award; Hillary Shelton, NAACP National Director & Senior Vice President for Advocacy, Washington Bureau, Civil Rights and Advocacy Trailblazer Award: PRESIDENT’S AWARDS: Brendan Thompson & Thandizar Easley, Outstanding Youth Council Members; ThyJuan Harris & Desiree Keyes, ACT-SO Program Support; Retired Judge Marcus Tucker, Long Beach Branch NAACP/Keesal, Young & Logan, Law Day Program; NAACP LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Reverend Jerry Stinson, Pastor, First Congregational Church of Long Beach

This signature event will generate funds for Long Beach Branch NAACP Branch Programs such as: the Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO Program), Stay-in-School, Leadership Academy and Development Program, Scholar Dollars Program, Youth Wealth Empowerment Program, Non-Violent Conflict Resolution, Fit and Focus Camps, Discovery of the Arts, Talent Search, and Development Program, Careers and Mentorship Program, Math and Science Collaboration (MESA) with CSULB, Law Day Program, Youth Entrepreneurs Program, and College Tuition Scholarship Program.
