On Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at approx. 12:30 p.m., a lone woman in her residence in the area of Broadway and Bayshore Avenue discovered a male suspect had entered her residence and fled when she began yelling.

Sharrows lead the way for bike path on Second Street


The City of Long Beach’s efforts to be the most bicycle-friendly city in the nation move forward on Saturday with the unveiling of “sharrows” — existing street lanes that are now clearly marked as shared lanes for both vehicles and bikes in Belmont Shore.

West Nile Virus confirmed in Belmont Heights

West Nile Virus (WNV) has been detected in a dead house finch in the Belmont Heights area of Long Beach. The City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services’ Vector Control Program received notification from the California Department of Public Health Department’s Vector-Borne Disease Section on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 of the positive test results.
