“Beach Streets” Gets Residents Rolling, Walking, Moving Uptown


Two large community festivals, concerts, skate and BMX expos, art exhibits, petting zoos and bands playing on restaurant patios are just some of the entertainment and activities planned for the “Beach Streets Uptown” Open Street event on Saturday, June 6.

DUI Checkpoint Planned in North Long Beach This Weekend


On Saturday, April 25, 2015, from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., the Long Beach Police Department’s Traffic Section will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint in North Long Beach. The deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes.

“Beach Streets Uptown” Opens Atlantic Ave for Day of Cycling, Socializing, June 6


On Saturday, June 6, 2015, Atlantic Avenue will be transformed for an Open Street event called “Beach Streets Uptown.” The event will open up Atlantic Avenue for walking, bicycling, and socializing, by temporarily closing the street to vehicle traffic from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Atlantic Avenue Street Improvement Project Complete


The City of Long Beach today celebrated the completion of a major street improvement project on Atlantic Avenue, between 52nd Street and the City’s northern border. “This project not only greatly enhance an important business corridor, it was completed on time and on budget,” said Mayor Robert Garcia.

Police Seek Information Concerning Toddlers Found Alone


Today at approximately 8:45 a.m., Long Beach police were dispatched to Atlantic Avenue and 60th Street after a passer-by saw two small children that were alone and called police. The children, both African-American boys, are approximately one and two years of age, and appear to be in good health.
