New Pre-Race Events Add To Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Fun

Two new pre-race events have been added to the excitement leading up to the 38th Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, April 13-15.

The Go-Kart Charity Race-off and “Roar at Belmont Shore” will both be held on Wed., April 11 and are free to the public.

The Go-Kart Charity Race-off, from 2 p.m. -9 Alamitos Bay Landing, 109 N. Marina Drive, will feature Grand Prix drivers — including IZOD IndyCar drivers Graham Rahal and Ed Carpenter – and pit crews going wheel-to-wheel to set fast lap time for charity, plus live music and driver autograph sessions. In addition, fans attending the event will be able to test their skills in those same go-karts.

The event will benefit the Graham Rahal Foundation, Alex’s Lemonade Stand and the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps.

The “Roar at Belmont Shore,” held in association with the Belmont Shore Business Association, takes place from 6 p.m.-8:30 pm. on Second St., between Corona and Covina, in Belmont Shore. The event includes live music, racing simulators, car displays, driver autograph sessions and Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach tickets and race gear giveaways.

The new events provide a perfect lead-in to Thursday’s popular “Tecate Thunder on Pine,” free to the public from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. on Pine Ave. in downtown Long Beach. “Tecate Thunder on Pine” features pit stop demonstrations with Indy cars, freestyle motocross, live music, a car show, driver autograph sessions and the finals of the 2012 Tecate Light Miss Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach pageant on the outdoor stage.

Tickets for the 2012 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, featuring six races including the third round of the IZOD IndyCar Series, are available now at Fans can select their seats, parking and paddock passes there or by calling the toll-free ticket hotline, (888) 82-SPEED. Also featured on is the latest Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach news, a downloadable ticket brochure and racetrack information, photos and ongoing announcements of special race week activities.

Ticket prices range from $26 for a Friday General Admission ticket to $130 for a three-day ticket that includes Sat./Sun. reserved seating in grandstand upper levels. A wide variety of Hospitality Club packages are also available, including the exciting Vista Club – featuring a nearly 360-degree view of the race circuit – located high atop the Hyatt Regency Long Beach.
