2015-01-13 · By Editor
In place of its regularly scheduled monthly meeting the North Long Beach Community Action Group will be hosting, “A Special Election Candidate Brunch”, at the Historic Long Beach Dairy and Creamery, Saturday, February 21, 2014. The event begins at 9:30 am and introduces the public to the 4th District City Council Candidates who will be running in the special election scheduled for April 14, 2015.
The Special Election is required in order to replace former 4th District Councilman Patrick O’Donnell who was recently elected as the Assemblyman to the 70th Assembly District.
Five candidates have taken papers, three were in the previous election 2012; Herlinda Chico, Daryl Supernaw and John Watkins. Since the nomination period began two other candidates have pulled their nomination papers, Denny Thompson and Edward B. Watson. This brings the total to five candidates… Only one candidate, Herlinda Chico, has completed, filed and qualified for the April 14, 2015 ballot. This is a “Winner take all” election.
The North Long Beach Community Action Group Special Election Candidate Brunch is Saturday, February 21, 2014 at the Historic Long Beach Dairy and Creamery 167 E. South St. Long Beach, CA. from 9:30 am – 1:00 pm.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted. Many community advocates and local press have been invited as well as other news and media reporting outlets.
