Officer Involved Shooting Results in Death

When officers arrived, they observed a male adult believed to be armed with a handgun and took a tactical position of cover. While waiting for backup officers to arrive, an officer involved shooting occurred. The subject was struck in the torso area.
The subject was immediately handcuffed and treated by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics; however, the subject was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured in this incident.
In addition to the Long Beach Police Department’s ongoing investigation, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is also conducting an independent investigation, which is routine for all officer-involved shootings in Los Angeles County.
