From the soccer field, to the race track, Olympians, pro-athletes and celebrities from various sports and entertainment fields ban together to help create awareness and find a cure for cancer at the 3rd Annual Tour de Pier held on Sunday, May 17 at the iconic Manhattan Beach Pier. Celebrities and pro-athletes will be cycling to help raise money and awareness for three cancer charities: the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, the Uncle Kory Foundation and the Cancer Support Community of Redondo Beach.

Celebrity supporters feature:

  • Professional Soccer Players: Landon Donovan and Alexi Lalas
  • Olympians: Tony Cruz (cyclist); George Hincapie (cyclist); Eric Fonoimoana (gold medal volleyball champion); Heather Petri (gold medalist in water polo) and Kerri Walsh (3x gold medal volleyball champion)
  • Professional athletes Craig Hummer (Ironman champion) and Jeff Louder (professional cyclist)
  • Professional Race Car Driver: Townsend Bell (indy car and NBCSN color commentator)
  • Celebrity Guests: David Tutera (wedding and entertainment expert, WE tv) and Rob Stone (Fox Sports 1 host)

“I’m thrilled to support Tour de Pier and its beneficiaries and efforts to raise much-needed funds for cancer research and wellness,” said Townsend Bell, professional race car driver. “As much as I love auto racing, I am also an avid cyclist.” He added, “Raising funds through physical philanthropy at Tour de Pier is an incredible way to support the cause and help raise awareness for the charities.”

Since the inaugural, award-winning Tour de Pier three years ago, more celebrity sports figures have geared up to join cycling supporters to pedal towards a cure for cancer. “We are honored to have these amazing professional athletes and celebrities be a part of the Tour de Pier team,” said Heath Gregory, co-founder, Tour de Pier. “Our athletes and celebrities supporters have been touched by cancer, which fuels their support of our cause. They recognize the more awareness and support we can provide for collaborative cancer research, the faster we can save countless lives.”

The Tour de Pier brings one of the hottest indoor fitness activities – stationary cycling – to the gorgeous outdoors. Participants will be overlooking the Manhattan Beach Pier and riding in place while taking in a Southern California iconic ocean view. The South Bay’s best instructors and celebrity guests will spin more than 1,100 riders through a four-hour session with energizing music and loads of excitement. The Tour de Pier will feature a Health & Fitness Expo with a Kid Zone including games and activities as well as entertainment.  For more information or to register, visit www.tourdepier.com
