After announcing that former Ultimate Fighting Championship title holders Tito Ortiz and Quinton (Rampage) Jackson would headline the Nov. 2 event at Long Beach Arena, Bellator confirmed that two more title matches will take place live on pay-per-view Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 3PM inside the Long Beach Arena.

Former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez returns to the promotion and will face current champion Michael Chandler in the co-main event. In addition, Muhammed (King Mo) Lawal will take on Emanuel Newton for the interim light heavyweight title, after champion Attila Vegh was sidelined with a shoulder injury.

“While casual fight fans aren’t as familiar, perhaps, with Alvarez and Chandler, Lawal and Newton, Ortiz and Jackson have spent more than two decades combined at the top of the sport – Ortiz exclusively with UFC and Jackson with both UFC and Japan-based PRIDE. The chance to have them headline the company’s first pay-per-view event will hopefully draw more attention to the promotion, and was an opportunity Bellator jumped on,” said CEO Bjorn Rebney.

The Chandler-Alvarez title will be a rematch of their November 2011 classic, won by Chandler via submission in what was a stunning upset at the time. The Ortiz-Jackson contest features two fighters past their prime but who are among the top stars in UFC history: Ortiz rewrote the company record book both in the cage and at the box office during his run atop the light heavyweight division, while Jackson is a former champion who, for his UFC 114 bout versus Rashad Evans, drew the highest pay-per-view numbers for a non-title match in company history.

“We are thrilled to host Bellator MMA at the Long Beach Arena,” said Dan Spellens, Director of Theaters & Entertainment for SMG at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center. “These added matches will make for an action packed night for MMA fans,” he concluded.
