Parks, Recreation and Marine Offers Two New Classes

Great Fall Classes Available for Everyone From Parks, Recreation and MarineWant to make hair bands, jewelry, wristbands, or embellish a cute little purse using vintage and contemporary materials, such as recycled jewelry, sweaters, and textiles? The new Mommy & Me Recycled Accessory Workshop is a trash-to-treasures class that will make you proud of the wearable art you can create.

All materials will be provided; just bring scissors. This course is for children ages 6 to 12 and an accompanying adult. The course is $25 with a $20 materials fee payable in cash. Class will take place Thursday, November 17, from 4 to 6 pm at Recreation Park Community Center, 4900 E. 7th St.

Here’s another fun and exciting class:

Positive Puppy Headstart
Give your puppy a solid start in training with this new class from Parks, Recreation and Marine. Socialization, housetraining handling, polite greetings to people and other dogs, and basic cues will be taught with positive reinforcement techniques. This course is for pups ages 10 to 20 weeks with one vaccination 10 days before the class begins, and owners ages 10 and older. This class has a maximum of 10 pups to ensure personalized attention, and a cost of $79 with a $10 material fee. Certified instructor Kelli Knowles, CPDT-KA, will teach the class on Tuesdays from 7-8 pm from November 15 to December 20, at Los Cerritos Tennis Courts, near Bixby Road and Country Club Drive.

  • Mail in the registration form in the Class Guide to the El Dorado Park Administration Building, 2760 Studebaker Road, Long Beach, CA 90815.

  • Walk in to the El Dorado Park Administration Building. Monday-Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm (closed November 24-25, and December 26).
