Pedestrian hit in fatal traffic collision on 27th and Pasadena Ave

On Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Long Beach police officers responded to an injury traffic collision on 27th Street and Pasadena Avenue. When officers arrived on scene they discovered a female pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle and was down in the roadway.
Long Beach Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to Long Beach Memorial Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries. The victim is identified as 54 year old, Samira Chalala of Cypress CA.
The investigation revealed that a 1998 Nissan Frontier was traveling eastbound on 27th street when it struck the victim who was attempting to cross the street northbound on Pasadena Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk.
The driver could face misdemeanor charges once detectives from the Accident Investigation Detail conclude their investigation.
