Pepper Week: Downtown Restaurants Turn Up the Heat

22 restaurants in downtown Long Beach are creating specialty menus for Pepper Week.

Downtown Long Beach restaurants will spice up their menus for Pepper Week, a partnership between the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) and Visit California, the producers of California Restaurant Month. This second annual Downtown Long Beach Restaurant Week will include 22 restaurants featuring special pepper themed menu items from January 20-26.

After a very successful Cheese Week in 2013, Downtown restaurants are looking forward to flexing their creative muscle with a new inspiration: the pepper. From appetizers to after dinner drinks, menus will offer both traditional and out-of-the-box dishes and spirits. Guests can taste everything from pepper paella to jalapeno honey panna cotta while sipping ghost pepper beer or a habanero cocktail.

“Downtown restaurants are embracing this year’s theme and offering a wide variety of options that reflect the diversity of dining options in our city’s core,” shared DLBA President and CEO Kraig Kojian. “The DLBA invites daring diners from throughout the region to try the sweet, savory and spicy dishes and drinks featured during this week-long event.”

Participating restaurants include Agaves Kitchen & Tequila, Alegria Cocina Latina, Beachwood BBQ & Brewing, Berlin Bistro, Café Sevilla, Congregation Ale House, District Wine, Fuego at the Maya, Gaucho Grill, James Republic, Kress Market, L’Opera Ristorante, La Shish, Public Beer and Wine, Rebel Bite, Shannon’s on Pine, SIPS Lounge at the Renaissance, Sweet Dixie Kitchen, The Federal Bar, The Sky Room, Utopia and Wokcano Restaurant.
