Long Beach Boys and Girls Club Fundraiser At the final stretch of the Naples Island Board Walk, the Long Beach Boys and Girls Club had nearly $4000 in pledges.  Since the November 17th Event, collections from pledges have doubled to more than $8000 in two weeks.  And the pledges keep coming.

On Saturday, November 17, more than 60 people joined Long Beach Doctor and Boys & Girls Club Board Member, Grant Uba walking up to 50 miles around Naples Island.  Walkers collected pledges in person and at the online donation page on the Boys & Girls Club website http://www.bgclublb.org/.

During the walk, participants got a souvenir photo provided by Reden Paredes of Blanjear Design Etc. and hydrated with private label water donated by Danny Graham of Cool Image Water.  The rain held off long enough for participants to enjoy a post walk celebration at Board Member Barbie Barker’s home with food from Madera’s Restaurant, personally prepared by Madera’s owner, Art Garcia.

While most walkers participated in groups of two to four, the largest group was Team Arthur with ten family members all walking to support the Boys and Girls Club.

With the success of Dr. Uba’s 50 mile walk in 2011 and this year’s Board Walk, this event is expected to become a Boys and Girls Club of Long Beach fall fundraising tradition.
