The Found will celebrate Women’s History Month on three Saturdays in March, highlighting women poets, comedians, and musicians. The month kicks off with an evening of poetry featuring Long Beach’s unofficial poetess laureate Mindy Nettifee (thecultofmindy.com) with June Melby.
This will be Nettifee’s only performance in March as she prepares to put out a new book. Melby, who will fly in from Iowa exclusively for this event, has been blowing away audiences at festivals across the U.S. and Europe for over a decade.
“If you see only one poetry show this month, this is the one to see,” say organizers of the poetry night.
Promises Nettifee, “There will be poetry, Casio keyboard jams, moody guitars and, if June has her way, some accordion music.” Special guests Derrick Brown, Brendan Constantine and Rick Lupert will also read poems.
An Evening of Poetry With Mindy Nettifee, June Melby & Guests takes place on Saturday, March 6, at 8:00 p.m. (doors open 7:30). Tickets for the poetty show cost $10 and reservations are strongly suggested.
The Found Theatre is located at 599 Long Beach Boulevard, Long Beach, CA 90815. For reservations call 562-433-3363 or visit www.foundtheatre.org for more details.
