Police Investigate 14th Street Homicide

murderOn July 9, 2012, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to a shots fired call in the 2200 block of E. 14th Street that resulted in the death of a male adult.

When police arrived, they discovered the victim lying in the street who had been struck by gunfire in the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital and listed in critical condition. Last night, he was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the victim and the suspect were involved in a dispute that escalated into the shooting. It is unknown if the incident is gang-related and there is no suspect information available at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing. The victim is only being identified as a 29-year-old male adult from Long Beach until family can be notified.
