Police Investigate Monday Night Homicide

On Monday, January 20, 2014, at approximately 9:55 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to the area of New York Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue regarding shots fired.

When officers arrived, they discovered a male adult down on the street, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the torso. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Sambo Chhoy of Long Beach. No suspect information is available at this time, a motive for the shooting is unknown, and the investigation remains ongoing.
