Police Investigate Morning Homicide; Seek Suspect and Motive

On Monday, June 22, 2015, about 8:45 a.m., Long Beach Police were dispatched to the area of the 800 block Cedar Avenue regarding a shooting call, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and determined him deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Douglas Wilson of Long Beach.

The SWAT team responded to assist with the search of a nearby residence. As a precautionary measure, nearby residents voluntarily evacuated during the tactical operation. A suspect was not located in the residence.

No one is in custody and no suspect information is available. A motive for the shooting is unknown and the investigation remains ongoing.
